Business Brain Food

You may remember Johnnie Cass from way-back-when on Big Brother One. Nowadays Johnnie travels around the globe as a motivational speaker, helping people understand human potential. He is also a successful entrepreneur himself, having successfully brought his own underwear brand to market.

Johnnie faced some major battles after his flirtation with reality TV. It was impossible for him to resume the same life he had before, and the paths he chose afterwards didn’t always work out well. He knows firsthand how it feels to be demotivated and disengaged, but he also knows what to do to come out the other side. Read on for some of the top tips he shared with Ben:

** It doesn’t matter what other people think – the only opinion that matters is what you think about yourself.

** Look at problems as opportunities to challenge yourself.

** Do something every day that is a good habit, i.e. learning for a set amount of time.

** Don’t assume that social media is an accurate representation of the world around you. It’s all too easy to compare your bad day with someone else’s good day.

** Express your vulnerability. It’s better out than in.

** Take lessons from the past, but not regrets.

In this episode of Business Brain Food you will learn:

** The benefits of “be” rather than “do”

** How men can properly address depression

** The power of vulnerability

** How to work around setbacks from the past

** The difference between empathy and sympathy

We’ve changed it up a bit this week. Instead of the usual format of Ben talking to a guest, we’ve got almost an hour of Ben talking to you. This business advice is invaluable – it’s the same advice that businesses up and down the land have paid good money for, but today it is absolutely free.

This week Ben focuses on his 5-step business growth system. For the full info you’ll have to listen to the podcast, but you can have a sneak preview of this tried-and-tested system below:

  1. Time Management: People like to be busy, but that could easily mean you’re disorganised. A good business owner has time to stop and reflect.
  2. Why did you start the business? Not enough people ask themselves this. You need this as a clear objective, then you can build everything else around it.
  3. Understand your money: See your P & L as a working document full of management information, not just something that you need to do for the taxman. Design your accounts in a way that suits you, not the accountant. You should be able to easily make decisions off the back of the figures, week-to-week, month-to-month. If you can’t, then there’s something wrong.
  4. KPIs are king: For every single role in your business you need to clearly define what the measurements are of success and failure.
  5. Make sure your business can do what you say it can: Achieve that consistency! As a manager you need to take as much human error out of the equation as possible. Only with foolproof processes can your business achieve the consistency it needs to ensure customers keep coming back.

In this episode of Business Brain Food you will learn:

** The key foundations of good business

** The importance of a marketing plan

** How technology can shape your future

** The power of lead-generation strategies

** Return customers V new customers
